DBK is the portfolio of Kyram Singleton, provider of fully custom and genuinely affordable websites, graphic design for any kind of promotional material, and also photography.
In 2010 in the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, IL,
DBK was created by an artist/designer and a Ph.D in Physics/programmer.
In the Champaign-Urbana area, small businesses were plentiful and abound by the numbers that had no websites. We recognized a strong and evident need for small businesses to be able to have genuinely custom, no-template, artistic, professional websites.
We visited many small businesses in person to offer them our services and saw a unanimous hesitation with getting a website made due to the typical sky-high prices that small businesses simply couldn't afford.
Other web design firms in the area didn't offer the scope of services DBK does, not to mention they didn't make websites from scratch. We began to see there was a need for genuinely custom, yet artistic and fresh websites made from scratch, individual to each client without using templates, also at low prices.
In May 2010, DBK set forth in action. Fliers went viral all over the 75K population of Champaign-Urbana, as well as business cards. We emphazised the custom and artistic nature of our work, the convenience of web design, photography, and graphic design all in one bundle, and also emphasized the low prices for this made-from-scratch work. With their strengths combined, the DBK duo started helping small businesses and individuals selling products or services, gain recognition, web prescence and increase visibility of their services and products.
With the wish to take your business to the stratosphere, the swoosh beneath the DBK letters signifies an energetic, upward trend towards a brilliant star. The star itself represents the North Star, an international icon of guidance and light. The DBK logo itself stands for "Designs By Kyram".
The individual chief designer and co-founder of DBK is 24-year-old Kyram, whose initial K is the final letter in "DBK". Kyram loves web design, graphic design, and photography. Kyram single-handedly photographs hundreds of products in controlled settings, performs precise and realistic photo retouching, creates commercial art, is extremely detail-oriented and is an actual artist. In her spare time, the friendly web designer composes concert piano music and draws. Bringing an artistic touch to websites is Kyram's passion. Kyram's vision of the internet is a "free limitless realm of creation, where the designer places the viewer in a setting that immerses their senses with the desired emotions."
The president of DBK is Dr. Martin Singleton, a sharp programmer, very hard-working individual who is always keeping himself updated with the most modern and cunning technologies that make up today's web-world. Holding a PhD from the University of Illinois in Physics, Dr. Singleton has churned out programs thousands of lines long, by hand, and has worked in numerous software startups. He has received letters of praise and recognition for his work in the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, not only due to his excellent work, but his friendliness and professionalism. Dr. Singleton knows how to enable websites with a consciousness so they interact with users seamlessly. In his spare time, Dr. Singleton enjoys playing tennis, going to the beach, and hiking on mount Tam.
